Solarmax is a breathtaking IMAX adventure that explores
humankind’s quest for knowledge about Earth’s closest star, the Sun.
Combined visits with other venues
Joint, discounted visits can be arranged with the Powerhouse Museum, IMAX, Captain Cook Cruises Solar Sailor and the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout. Visiting school groups can take advantage of the Observatory's maximum group of size of about 60 by organising an excursion of 120 students where one group of 60 visits Sydney Observatory and the other group of 60 visits an alternate venue. The two groups then swap venues to maximise the value of the excursion experience.
All Observatory day time visits include: a flight through the solar system in our awesome 3-D space theatre, a look at the night sky in our bean bag planetarium and a viewing through a telescope (weather permitting). In the day time students can safely view the moon, Venus, bright stars and the Sun using a special solar telescope.
Please note: for combined visits, bookings and payments must be made separately at each venue. Prices are effective until 31 December 2006. Packages do not apply on weekends or during school holidays.
Powerhouse Museum and Sydney Observatory
Visit the Powerhouse Museum exhibitions Space: beyond this world or Cyberworlds: computers and connections and then visit Sydney Observatory.

IMAX and Sydney Observatory
Visit IMAX to view the shows Roving Mars or Space station 3D and then an Observatory 3-D space theatre and telescope viewing.
TOTAL COST: $14.00 (day visit: $6 Observatory and $8.00 IMAX)/ $17.00 per student (night visit: $9 Observatory and $8.00 IMAX).
